SAM SHERWOOD (Music Director and Performer) is thrilled to be back at Geva after appearing in Million Dollar Quartet in 2018. Although he’s lived in New York City for over a decade, Sam grew up down the road in Naples, NY. His grandparents, George and Mary Sherwood, founded the Bristol Valley Playhouse in 1964. A lifelong fan of Johnny Cash, as music director, Sam aims to bring the power of these great songs to life. As the songwriter Harlan Howard said: “Three chords and the truth.” As a performer, Sam has been all over the world, including performing in a dozen productions of Ring of Fire, including the European premiere in Vienna, Austria at Vienna’s English Theatre. Other recent credits include Woody Sez (The Irish Repertory Theatre, off-Broadway); Godspell, Once, Stand By Your Man and The Road: My Life With John Denver (Ivoryton Playhouse); A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Pump Boys & Dinettes, Lost Highway and Cotton Patch Gospel (Flat Rock Playhouse); Million Dollar Quartet (Arvada Center; Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival and John W. Engeman Theater); Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story (NC Theatre; Theater By The Sea and John W. Engeman Theatre). Catch Sam in an upcoming episode of Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. sherwoodsounds.com
