FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
GEVA THEATRE CENTER PRESENTS
3 Mo’ Divas: Smashing Musical Barriers
A Sizzling Summertime Show – Direct from NYC’s Apollo Theatre in the Mainstage from July 7 – August 2
Rochester, N.Y., April 22, 2009 – 3 Mo’Divas brings down the Mainstage with this fantastic musical journey featuring Broadway showstoppers, jazz, soul, R & B, blues and gospel and opera. Having entertained audiences all over the country and abroad since 2006, 3 Mo’Divas arrives on the Geva Mainstage immediately following their June 2009 debut at the world famous Apollo Theatre in New York.
The three divas: Jamet “Smooth and Sexy” Pittman, Laurice “Take No Prisoners” Lanier and “Super”Nova Payton, are all classically trained vocalists and all possessing Class, Sass & Style. The discovery of their phenomenal vocal versatility is nothing short of astonishing!
3 Mo’ Divas delivers some stupefying, genre-jumping feats that will amaze audiences: including opera, Broadway, movies, jazz, blues, soul, R&B, rock & roll, spirituals & gospel. Like mysterious sweet surprises, you never know which divine Diva or which style of music might come next. It could be Pittman singing an aria or crooning soul at the piano. It might be Lanier with blues or gospel or awe-inspiring orbiting celestial Broadway notes or Payton rockin’ and rollin’ like Tina Turner! Sometimes you get all three together in a heavenly musical combination that audiences won’t soon forget! Versatility is the name of the game in 3 Mo’ Divas!
3 Mo’ Divas is the brainchild of Marion Caffey, creator and director of Cookin’ at the Cookery which played to sold out houses during Geva’s 2002-2003 Season. Cookin’ at the Cookery has been produced in over 40 North American theatres and has garnered many awards and nominations including The Drama Desk, The Dora Mavor, NAACP, The Drama League and The New York Times Critics’ Choice as Best Musical of 2003.
3 Mo’ Divas: Smashing Musical Barriers has had audiences standing and cheering around the world in this concert which can be enjoyed by the entire family!
3 Mo’ Divas has just released their debut CD, Smashing Musical Barriers, available at Amazon.
