Study Guide Archive

Study Guides - Each of the shows in our P.L.A.Y. and Big Theatre for Little People Series is accompanied by a study guide for teachers. The study guides are informative and insightful providing suggested classroom activities along with a variety of resources such as interviews with Geva Artists, set and costume renderings, and historical information.

Teacher Workshops - Teacher workshops for all student matinee performances are free of charge to teachers who will be bringing their students to a performance. Join the actors and director for coffee and cookies as we bring the study guide to life by discussing the play, the rehearsal process and how to best prepare your students for their trip to the theatre.

Talk-backs - This dialogue with the cast that follows many of our P.L.A.Y. and Big Theatre for Little People matinees provides students and teachers with the opportunity to learn about the process that went into creating the production.

Artist School visits - For each production artists are available to travel to schools and meet with students to continue their discussion about the play, the rehearsal process and careers in the theatre. School visits can be scheduled by calling the Education Department at 232-1366 x3058. Please be ready to tell us which show you will be attending and have three possible visit dates that work for you.

Career Day (ages 14-18) - Usually a three hour event providing students with an extensive backstage tour of the theatre, and then a question and answer session with a panel of employees from Geva's various departments, which allows students to gain insight into the daily routine at Geva and a possible career in the theatre. To schedule call our Education Department at 232-1366 x3035.

Just for you!

A Practical "Hands-On" Theatre Workshop for Educators - This is a one-day workshop is designed to bring theatre into the classroom. It will provide the opportunity for teachers to re-explore the artist within themselves. The fee for enrollment is $30.00.

Education Advisory Committee - An education advisory committee has been formed to give teachers a voice in Geva's educational programming and to provide a strong connection to bring that programming back into the classroom. The make up of the committee consists of educators from both inner city and suburban schools, as well as representatives from organizations that act as liaisons between cultural institutions and schools (BOCES and Young Audiences.) If you are interested in serving on our committee please contact the Education Department at 232-1366 x3058.
